Glass Veranda installed in London Golf Club

Glass Veranda installed at Stanmore Golf Club in London

Keen on golf, we were delighted to be selected by the club at Stanmore to design a stunning glass veranda for their new terrace. A rear patio was to be remodelled and our glass veranda was to form its crowning glory. Steeped in history, golf here started with a private members club founded in 1893, one and a quarter centuries ago, for an elite circle of friends including lawyers, city brokers and MP’s. Lawns and tennis courts were present in the 19th century, and ‘The Pavilion’ was erected which forms the basis of the present day club house; which our glass veranda now adorns.

Objectives

This large glass veranda must connect to the clubhouse, but cannot be supported by this wooden frame building. Therefore a supporting steel structure will be designed and installed. Water drainage from the veranda should be piped below the new granite patio, installing underground pipes for this before the patio is laid. Finally, the new glass veranda should include our sottezza awnings, providing much needed shade for this south facing terrace.

Conclusion

This contemporary outdoor living space melds beautifully to the traditional architectural of this historic London clubhouse. Our glass veranda not only provides a more defined outside seating area for members after playing (extending the “19th hole”), but also provides added evening party space during their frequent club functions.
